MetroGel Review

A prescription rosacea treatment, MetroGel uses 1% metronidazole claims to help you achieve healthy and glowing skin in general. A MetroGel kit also includes 4 oz of cetaphil cleanser. MetroGel’s actual ingredients list actually includes betadex, niacinimide, and propylene glycol as well.

Some users have reported stinging, burning, skin irritation, dryness, redness, metallic tastes, nausea, or headaches. This is not surprising considering niacinimide is well known for causing flushing in the skin and other ingredients included can easily dry out the skin when commonly found in over the counter treatments you can find at your local grocery store.

This does not apply to most prescriptions. However, with the treatment of acne, many prescription and over the counter treatments actually have the same ingredients, the same concentrations, the same basic make up. There are a few ingredients such as metronidazole that only come in prescriptions. But most are based on pretty common supplements such as salicylic acid and benzyl peroxide in the same percentages. As such, why spend all the effort for the same results either way, and why put up with all the side effects when there are even better options?
